ATHLETIC TRAINING SERVICES

St Francis physical therapy

A Certified Athletic Trainer is a highly educated and skilled professional specializing in athletic health care.  In cooperation with physicians and other allied health personnel, the athletic trainer functions as an integral member of the athletic health care team in secondary schools, colleges and universities, sports medicine clinics, professional sports programs and other athletic health care settings.

St. Francis High School contracts a certified athletic trainer (AT) to provide medical support/coverage for the Fighting Saints athletic teams.  During the season, an athletic trainer is on site from at least 2:25-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and during all home JV and varsity athletic games/events.  An athletic trainer also travels with the varsity football team to away games.

Katie Newbolt started her job as an athletic trainer at St. Francis High School in the spring of 2022.  Allie VanVleet, LAT, ATC joined the athletic training staff at SFHS in 2019.  Katie and Allie are employed by Physical Therapy Consultants, Inc.  Please feel free to contact them with any questions or concerns that you (parent or student-athlete) may have regarding any injury and health question or concern that may arise during the year.

Katie and Allie work closely with Dr. Mike Patten, MD of Allina Health, Isanti Clinic.  Dr. Patten specializes in the evaluation and management of orthopedic injuries and conditions and concussion management.  Katie and Allie can help coordinate an appointment with Dr. Patten or other appropriate healthcare professionals in a timely manner.
