ATTENDANCE

The school board and staff of St. Francis Area Schools believe that regular attendance directly relates to success in academic work, benefits students socially, provides opportunity for important communication between teacher and student, and establishes regular habits of dependability important to the future of the student. Class attendance is a joint responsibility to be shared by the student, parent/guardian and school. These procedures promote student attendance.

REPORTING AN ABSENCE

Parent/guardian is requested to call the high school office by 8:00 a.m. the morning of the absence at 763-213-1531 or you may email absence information to hsattendance@isd15.org.  Absence verification will be allowed up to two school days following the return of the absent student to school.  Please do not send paper notes at this time.

ARRIVING LATE TO SCHOOL

Students will still be required to sign in on the kiosk in the greeter station. Only one student may be in the kiosk area at a time. They will then head directly to their class through the commons. Parent/guardian must call or email the attendance line within two school days of the absence/tardy date to have a late arrival excused. Please do not send paper notes with students.

STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY

It is the student’s responsibility to be in school. It is also the student’s responsibility to attend all classes regularly and to follow correct procedures when absent from school. Students are responsible to check their weekly attendance report and take corrective action. This may include bringing in a note and notifying a parent and/or notifying an administrator. To ensure the safety and security of students and staff, all students arriving late or leaving early during school hours must enter and exit through the front entrance. Students failing to follow this procedure may be subject to disciplinary action.

SCHOOL’S RESPONSIBILITY

It is the school’s responsibility to encourage students to attend all classes. It is also the school’s responsibility to inform the student’s parent/guardian of the student’s attendance and to work cooperatively with the parent/guardian and the student to develop acceptable attendance patterns.

PARENT/GUARDIAN’S RESPONSIBILITY

It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to notify the school within two (2) school days from the date of the absence. Additionally, it is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to encourage regular school attendance. Infinite Campus This is our web-based grading program that allows parents the opportunity to view their student’s attendance, grades, and transcripts (grades 7-12) from any internet accessible location. Parents may also elect to receive attendance alerts via email through their Infinite Campus Portal. Parents can sign up for Infinite Campus with Marika Hendricks at 763-753-7158.
