Parent Information

The Grand March is on Saturday, April 30, starting at 5:00 p.m. at St. Francis High School.

Pictures are encouraged during the March. There will be two photo opportunities for each runway, one on each side of the gym. Your son or daughter will enter through Door 1 (odd numbers/orange card) or Door 2 (even numbers/yellow card). That will determine which photo-op spots they will use.

The prom-goers will fill out Grand March name cards. Each card has a number, either an odd/orange card or an even/yellow card. You may want to check with your son or daughter to see if they have an odd or even number to determine which door they enter through. Please see the map for great photo opportunities.

Feel free to take pictures before or after the Grand March begins. The gym will be beautifully decorated for the pleasure of the prom-goers and their family and friends. Please feel free to take pictures near any of the decorations.

Please be careful of the runways. If possible, avoid walking on them. Do not allow children to play with the decorations.

Remain seated for the entire Grand March. Please do not leave after your son or daughter has gone through the March. We have designed March so it will go very quickly. There are at least four couples on the floor at one time.

Enjoy this very special time for our students!

Items to Note

Please bring your ticket envelope with you to the Grand March at St. Francis High School and Courtyards of Andover. When you arrive at SFHS, please check in at the front table to receive your Grand March number. You do not need anything to check-in. Give your name as it will be printed on a roster. Students will also pick up their GRAND MARCH NAME CARD at check-in at the high school, starting at 3:45 p.m. Fill out the card at the check-in table and hang onto it. Cards will be given to an emcee who will read the names of students walking.

Professional PICTURES

David Bank Studio will be in the back gym, 4:00-5:00 p.m. to take professional photos. Photos may be purchased at the individual’s expense. Have your phone ready to go when you get in line, please. To view/order photos, you will need to text a code at the time of photos. Students will receive a text back with a link when the images are ready to view/order. Students will place their order from that link, and orders will be shipped directly to you.

Grand March Directions

STUDENTS ARE ASKED TO PLEASE SIT IN THE BACK BLEACHERS (Freshmen section) FOR CORONATION, which will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Following the coronation, students will be excused from the back bleachers, and will exit through THE SIDE DOOR (to the left), go to the Commons and get in line for Grand March.

  • Odd numbers (example 5, 25, 33, etc.) go through Door 1/Orange color
  • Even numbers (example 8, 12, 48, etc.) go through Door 2/Yellow color
  • Students will not line up in numerical order.

While in the Commons, students are asked to be quiet as possible in case an important announcement is made.

When stepping up to the emcee, make sure they know how to pronounce your names correctly. Once the emcee has called your name, proceed through the gym. Give parents and relatives a chance to take a picture at the “photo-opportunity” spots near the bleachers (where the runway turns). Pause for a few seconds and then proceed. If someone calls out for you to wait, please feel free to do so. The Grand March is for students and the community to enjoy. Walk at a normal pace, so you will not create a jam.

Don’t panic if something goes wrong. Keep your composure and keep walking. The audience is more comfortable if you seem comfortable.

After once through the Grand March, sit in the back bleachers or exit the gym IN THE BACK. Please do not walk back through the gym—it disturbs others.

Courtyards of Andover

The doors at Courtyards of Andover will open at 6:30 p.m, and a ticket is needed to enter. Please give your prom ticket to one of the chaperones as you walk in. Be prepared for coat check and bag search upon arrival. Find a place to sit and place your name cards at your spot.

The tables seat a maximum of eight people. Please do not move chairs or dishes to accommodate your party. If your party is larger than eight, have eight sit at one table and the rest at a table next to you. In other words, no more than eight at a table, please.

There will be a complementary photo booth and music video light show provided by Northern Lights DJ.

Dress Code

Remember, this is a formal event. The student’s responsibility is to dress appropriately for prom, as SFHS reserves the right to deny admittance to anyone who chooses to dress inappropriately. Tickets are non-refundable, so make sure to select appropriate attire. Some examples of inappropriate dress may include but are not limited to jeans, shorts, athletic baseball caps, see-through tops, cleavage, short dresses, exposed midriffs, etc.

No Smoking, Vaping, Alcohol, or Drugs

Prom is a high school function. Even though it is in a public place, all school rules apply. Whether you are 18 or not, whether you are from our school or not, whether you are in college or not, whether you think you can or not, no smoking, no vaping, no alcohol, and no drugs will be tolerated. Chaperones and police will be present to assist with these situations should they arise. All students will be observed for illegal or controlled substances. Security may conduct a search of coats, purses, etc. Any student who refuses to comply will be denied entry/asked to leave. All students may be subject to a chemical use screening/assessment, which may include a PBT/breathalyzer test. Any vehicle, including limousines and party buses, can be searched. Passengers will be held responsible and given consequences for any illegal substance in the vehicle. Be smart!

No Re-entrance

Once you leave the Courtyards of Andover, you will not be readmitted. We hope you stay until the last song is played. If you need to step out to your vehicle—an escort (chaperone) is required to go with you. If you leave without a chaperone, you will not be allowed back in.

No Issues

We expect this prom night to go very smoothly because we have good students who know how to behave. The goal is for everyone to have a great time. Thank you in advance for making good choices at this event. Our event ends at 11:00 p.m. If you are being picked up at the end of the evening, please be sure to have your ride arrive by 11:00 p.m.
