large group of K.R.E.W. students holding a certificate

A few years back a handful of students wanting to help teachers and fellow students at Cedar Creek Elementary School has grown into a group of around 50 students that are members of The K.R.E.W. (Kids Reaching Everyone with Work).

School teachers and administrators find students who would thrive on the leadership opportunity, be responsible and respectful, and appreciate the connection with helping teachers and students with service jobs. See The K.R.E.W in action.

Throughout the year, members of The K.R.E.W. participate in a variety of service work such as:

  • Sight word practice and partner reading

  • Math and reading support

  • Helping Tiny Target Classroom Incentive System

  • Book Club with 1st grade students

  • Helping kindergarten students at the beginning and end of day with backpacks, snow gear, routines

  • Helping kindergarten students get to breakfast

  • Bringing class lunch boxes to cafeteria each day for teachers

  • Walking younger students to parent pick-up and Kids Connection at the end of the day

  • Assisting special education students get on and off the bus

  • Assisting in the library

  • Assisting office staff

On the last day of school, all KREW students gathered for a photo and received a certificate to celebrate their service to the school.
