St. Francis High School (SFHS) has announced Sydney Borchert and Samuel Bergman as the school’s 2025-26 Triple ‘A’ - Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award recipients. Borchert and Bergman have been submitted to the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) as SFHS’s nominees for the award.
About the Award: The MSHSL Academics, Arts, and Athletics Award, commonly known as the Triple 'A' Award, honors high school seniors throughout the state who have a 3.0 or higher-grade point average and who participate in League-sponsored athletic and fine arts activities.
Sydney Borchert: Owns a 4.069 GPA … AP Scholar Award … Secretary of the National Honor Society … Academic all-conference award winner … A four-year participant in band (clarinet), which includes being a section leader as a senior … Named all-conference band twice … Competed in debate sophomore year and was a Novice A Division State Champion in Policy Debate … Named all-conference as a member of the varsity softball team every year since seventh grade … As a junior named All-State, all-section and earned Mississippi 8 Pitcher of the Year honors … Helped lead the Saints to a program-best third place finish at the state tournament as a sophomore … Surpassed 750 career strikeouts last season … Plans to study cellular and molecular biology and play softball at Winona State University.
Samuel Bergman: Owns a 4.05 GPA … Serves as a math peer tutor … A member of the National Honor Society … Earned the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association 5A Academic All-State Award as a senior … Earned all-district academic team honors … Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes … Participated in Visual Arts as a junior and senior … Lists the Allied Physical Education Class (combines students with Life Skills Special Education students) as his favorite during high school… A member of the SFHS football team since ninth grade and participated on varsity since sophomore year … Named a captain as a junior and a senior … Earned all-conference as a junior and senior … A member of the basketball team as a sophomore and junior and on the track and field team since ninth grade … Intends to study engineering and play football at Bethel University.
Selection Process: Each school can submit two finalists for their administrative region. SFHS represents Region 7AA. Triple ‘A’ Award recipients are selected through a multi-level process involving member schools of the League, the League’s administrative regions, and a special committee of educators, business leaders, and members from the fine arts and athletic communities.
Triple ‘A’ Recognition: Two award finalists from each region (one male and one female) will be invited to a recognition banquet in March and League officials will announce the four statewide Triple ‘A’ Award winners at that time.
Nomination Criteria:
Be a high school senior at the time of nomination. Schools may nominate one senior male and one senior female for this award.
Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at the time of nomination.
Participate in at least one League-sponsored athletic program and one arts/activity program.
Comply with the MSHSL's Student Code of Responsibilities.
